Dead Elvis Still King

Elvis Presley is still "the King" according to Forbes magazine as the top-earning dead celebrity for the last year. Of course, it's his estate - and more specifically Lisa Marie Presley - who's reaping the benefits, but it's his likeness and music that people keep coming back for year after year.

What was surprising to me, until I stopped to think about it, was the second place finish of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz whose Snoopy and Charlie Brown characters will probably be licensed and resold until the end of time. I mean, after all, would it really be Christmas without the Charlie Brown Christmas Special airing on TV?

Some other notable names on the list aren't really surprises: John Lennon, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe and Bob Marley are included, just to name a few.

They may not have been able to take it with them, but they sure have been able to keep providing for those they left behind...
